The new owners requested to make some changes to meet their needs and lifestyle including completely changing the interior finishes and adding a 600 square foot addition consisting of a guest bedroom and bathroom suite, an exercise room, a new elevator, and reconfigured stairway and balcony walkway to the upper floor. They also had an appreciation and interest in maintaining and enhancing the northwest modern appearance of the existing house including the horizontal clear cedar wood siding, tongue and groove cedar interior ceilings and exterior soffits, CMU block site walls that extend into interior spaces, and floor to ceiling anodized aluminum frames and windows framing western views to Lake Washington, the Seattle skyline, and the Olympic Mountain range. The low pitch of the existing roof was matched at the new shed roof covering the new upper floor space.
