The design process began with only an exterior shell. A new roof structure was designed with open web steel bar joists and steel pan deck. We also designed a new entry lobby central to the building and the design allowed the structural components to be left exposed like all of the steel and the concrete slab floors. The “urban loft” design feel lead us to design the elevator with enclosed glass walls and we wrapped the elevator shaft with the entry stairs to the second level so the user could view the mechanics of the vertical element.
