Kirkland West of Market

We had remodeled this two story brick house into a three story traditional aesthetic in 1994. The new owners like the basic “bones” of the house and desired a more modern look while adding a one car garage with a covered roof top deck on top of the garage.

The new design included an asymmetrical entry covering over the new entry landing, the use of exterior plater to cover the brick with smoother surfaces, and replacing the wood railing pickets with painted steel flat bars.

The new roof top deck over the garage is covered with a series of large glass skylights allowing year round natural light and a horizontal soffit is equipped with motorized shades to block the intense afternoon western sunlight while still allowing the Lake Washington views to be seen through the fabric.
