Located on a site that slopes steadily down to Bellingham Bay, the site presents amazing unobstructed westward views of the bay and Lummi Island in the distance. The main living spaces are located across the main floor with guest accommodations on the lower daylight basement level.
The post & beam main structure is designed with a singular roof plane with long exposed glue-lam beams gently pitched and extending outward towards the views and covers the exterior walls with expansive overhangs to protect the clear cedar siding from the weather. These long beams stretch over living spaces with floor to ceiling glass between oriented to the views to blur the lines between interior and exterior. Local materials of Douglas Fir, Western Red Cedar, and rift white oak woods were used by local crafts people in all aspects of the projet.
